I have been an RMT for over 20 years now and I am still so grateful that clients allow me to be a part of their health care team. I started my professional life as a Social Worker after completing Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Social Work. I loved being a Social Worker but found myself drawn to Massage Therapy as a second career. I went back to school, completed the Massage Therapy program with Honours and began my practice. Working as a Massage Therapist allows me to continue using the skills and experience that I gained from my Social Work education and career in a helping profession even more suited to my personality and outlook on life.

Massage therapy is an effective way to use the body’s natural ability to heal itself. It is useful for treating a large number of physical conditions and, just as importantly, to prevent them. Regular massage therapy treatments will help keep your body, and mind, functioning at its optimal level. I am a firm believer that everyone can benefit from massage throughout their life. I see clients of all ages- from children to seniors. Using a client focused and comprehensive style of treatment planning, my goal is to tailor the massage therapy treatment to your individual needs. I strive for this whether you are looking for relaxation or therapeutic massage- or a combination of the two. My style of massage would be best described as moderately deep. I tell my clients, “I want you to feel the massage, but not feel like you’ve been run over by a truck.”

My favourite part of this work is having the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people and to be able to spend my days in such a calm, relaxing environment. Not everyone can say that their job is where they go to find peace, I can. Outside of work, I am kept very busy with my children’s activities and my volunteer work in youth sports.

I began my practice as a massage therapist in 2007 after graduating from Algonquin College and I have loved working in the field since. I have a wide range of experience including treating: Pre-natal and post-natal women People with chronic pain conditions including fibromyalgia People in recovery from surgery People who have job related discomfort (ie. Back/shoulder/neck pain, carpel tunnel syndrome, etc.) People dealing with stress Athletes

In 2015 I began to study John F. Barnes Myofascial Release. This type of work targets the fascial system which is what surrounds and supports every other tissue in the body and connects you from head to toe. This specific type of work targets adhesions in the fascial system that have developed over time from a variety of different stresses. The technique involves using a gentle, sustained pressure to allow the adhered tissue to soften. In combining traditional massage techniques and JFB Myofascial Release I am able to more effectively treat the body as a whole.

I believe that massage therapy is important because it allows people to slow down and tune into what their body is trying to communicate to them to facilitate healing. In the fast paced world that we live in, there is often not much time left to stop and take care of ourselves.

In my free time I enjoy hiking with my dog, reading, yoga, playing ringette and spending time with my family.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you take a moment to reconnect with yourself.
